2.5.2.4. Management of an air duct with variable characteristics (VAD)

The control system of VAD opens the VAD gate in the air filter only at high frequencies of rotation of the engine so that engine capacity did not decrease with a high frequency of rotation because of an insufficient mass consumption of air. The PCM block turns on the electromagnetic valve of management of the VAD system for opening of the gate if the following conditions are met:
– temperature of cooling liquid – is above 70 °C;
– frequency of rotation of the engine – is higher than 5800 min.-1;
– the angle of opening of a butterfly valve – more than 50%.
